canon digital rebel

So, if I am interested in canon digital rebel, which is the better one? Is this a good one..?

http://www.amazon.com/Canon-Digital-Camera-18-55mm-3-5-5-6/dp/B0012YA85A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1252529941&sr=8-1

I have no idea which slr camera to look at.. what parameter should I compare. But I looked at XiaoZhu's picture
last time at Yousemite. That was astonishingly good. I could not find the link anymore.

Tongtong insisted on playing with my camera, no matter where I hide it... He open up the lens cover
and rub the lens with his fingers.
So, I think the lens for my current camera is probably gone. This camera need to be upgraded anyway.

I can make some recommendations if you name ur budget.

not sure what is the right budget range...
I never did any research on this.. lazy me.
How about 500?

500 should be able to cover a decent entry-level dslr camera body. however, you need to be prepared to spend more on lenses. the kit lens comes with the camera is simply trash and will make you wonder why dslrs do not live up to their reputation.

Our lab has a nikon D60, our lab manager got it for $549. The quality of the pictures are really good.
The camera is light.
